Starry Unicorns

For my blogpost this week I am going to focus on something that is near to my heart.  Starry Unicorns.  No I am not talking about the magical beasts that you would see in a Barbie movie.       imgres.jpg
I am talking about the Starry Unicorns made up of pride, valiance, and winners.  For those of you who still don't know what I am talking about, I guess I will just have to tell you.  The Starry Unicorns were an indoor soccer team, est. 2010, that played throughout the winter that year and ultimately ended up being the best team in the CISL league based in Maplewood.
Those of you who don't think this is a big deal, I want you to stop reading now because you are not worthy of beholding the greatness of the Starry's. The regular season is really not that important at all, except for the fact that we only lost one game, Nbd.
Moving on to the playoffs/tournament (this is where is gets exciting).  Since we were the number 2 seed we would have to play 2 games in a row if we won the first game.  Our team was more focused on winning the first game and we really didn't even care if we won the second game.  The first had us playing a team that we knew a few of the players on the team.
From the get go, everybody knew this was going to be an intense  game.  Actually all through the game and overtime the game was tied which sent the two teams in to penalty kicks.  Through the first three penalty kicks no one had scored.  Jimmer stepped up to take the 4th penalty kick (with a unicorn horn on incidentally) and buried it in the bottom of the net.  Sadly the next kid for the other team made his penalty kick as well.
It went on like this for about 5 more penalty kicks until Jimmer stepped up again to take his second penalty, and once again he made the most of the opportunity.  That won the game for the Starry Unicorns who would now advance to the championship game.  In the game, Jimmer (another Jimmer) scored the only goal of the game with 5 seconds left in the first half to give us the win and the championship.

  1. This is such a good story man. Whoever Jimmer is must be pretty good at soccer and sports in general.
